Yazen Halik, Founder of Mirewood

Yazen Halik is the founder of Mirewood, an Austin, Texas furniture company that designs modular cloud sofas and sectionals with machine-washable covers. He started Mirewood in 2026 after watching friends and family choose between $3,000–$5,000 sofas and cheap ones that fell apart within a year.

What Yazen writes about

Yazen writes the Mirewood blog and buying guides. His articles cover how modular sofas are built (frames, cushion fill, connection hardware), how to measure a room and a doorway before buying, how machine-washable covers hold up over repeated washing, and direct comparisons between Mirewood and Lovesac, Burrow, Albany Park, Anabei, West Elm, Cozey, 7th Avenue and Sofatica. Specifications quoted for Mirewood products are measured on production pieces; figures for other brands are taken from those brands' published materials and are dated in each article.
