Quick answer

Mirewood is a direct-to-consumer modular sofa brand based in Austin, Texas, with hundreds of verified customer reviews averaging 4.7 out of 5. Its two collections, Halo and Valen, are built on kiln-dried wood frames with a Limited Lifetime frame warranty, use high-density foam cushions and performance fabric rated to 100,000 double rubs, and every cover, including the seat cushion covers, is removable and machine-washable. Sofas ship free within the United States within 72 hours and come with a 30-day return window (a 20% restocking fee applies). Prices start at $1,299 for a Valen 2-seater and $1,399 for a Halo 2-seater.

I run the company, so read this as the founder's answer, not an independent review. Everything below is what we publish on the site, and I have included the reasons Mirewood is not the right sofa for everyone.

Who makes Mirewood sofas?

Mirewood is a small, founder-run furniture company headquartered in Austin, Texas. We sell only online, direct to customers, and hold finished inventory in the US rather than building each order overseas. That is why orders leave the warehouse within 72 hours instead of the 6 to 12 week lead times common in furniture. You can reach a real person at support@mirewoodco.com or 512-814-5786, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Central.

What are the sofas made of?

  • Frame: kiln-dried wood, dried to resist warping. Backed by a Limited Lifetime frame warranty.
  • Cushions: high-density foam with a down-blend wrap. The Halo has a deep, sink-in cloud feel with a 29.5-inch seat depth; the Valen is medium-firm with a 25.6-inch seat and a lower profile.
  • Fabric: a performance cotton-linen blend on the Halo and a linen-blend performance fabric on the Valen, both lab-tested to 100,000 double rubs (commercial grade), PFAS-free, tightly woven to resist pet claws and hair.
  • Covers: every cover zips off, including seat cushions, backs and base, and washes cold in a home machine. Air-dry. Replacement covers are sold separately, so a stain or a color change does not mean a new sofa.
  • Connectors: hidden steel clips, tool-free, about 15 minutes to assemble one seat at a time.

What do the reviews say?

Mirewood has hundreds of verified buyer reviews collected through Okendo, averaging 4.7 out of 5. The most common praise is for the washable covers, the depth of the Halo seat, and delivery speed. The most common complaints are that the Halo cushions are softer than some buyers expect (that is the cloud style; choose the Valen if you want firmer support), that covers must be air-dried, and that returns carry a restocking fee. You can read every review, including the critical ones, on our reviews page.

Warranty, returns and shipping

  • Warranty: Limited Lifetime warranty on the frame. Cushions and covers are wear items and are sold as replacements.
  • Returns: 30 days from delivery. A 20% restocking fee applies, and the customer arranges return shipping. We publish this on every product page and at checkout; see the full returns and warranty policy.
  • Shipping: free within the contiguous United States. Orders ship within 72 hours and arrive in roughly 3 to 10 business days depending on location. Pieces ship as separate cartons (about 40 x 40 x 12 inches, around 77 lb each) that fit through standard doorways.
  • Financing: Shop Pay Installments via Affirm at checkout.

How does Mirewood compare to Lovesac, Albany Park and Anabei?

Mirewood sits in the mid-tier of modular sofas: more expensive than budget imports and IKEA, roughly a third to a quarter of the price of a comparable Lovesac Sactionals configuration. The main differences shoppers care about are that Mirewood washes every cover including the base, ships in 72 hours, and offers the deep cloud-style seat; Lovesac has a firmer seat, a larger accessory ecosystem and a longer track record; Albany Park has a firmer, more tailored look with limited cover washability; Anabei is the closest washable alternative with a smaller product range. We have written detailed comparisons: Mirewood vs Lovesac, Mirewood vs Albany Park, Mirewood vs Anabei and Mirewood vs Burrow.

Who should not buy a Mirewood sofa

  • You want the feather-filled softness of the original RH Cloud. The Halo is foam-core with a down-blend wrap; it is softer than most sofas but firmer than a feather sofa.
  • You need to sit on a sofa in a showroom before buying. We are online only. The 30-day return window is the substitute, and it carries a 20% restocking fee.
  • You want many fabric or color options. The Halo comes in three colors and the Valen in four.
  • You want tumble-dry covers. Ours are wash cold, air dry.
  • You are outside the contiguous United States. We do not ship internationally.

Is Mirewood legit?

Yes. Mirewood is a registered US business operating from Austin, Texas, with a published phone number and support email, hundreds of verified reviews, a written warranty and a written return policy. Orders are processed through Shopify's checkout with standard buyer protections, and we have shipped sofas to customers in all 48 contiguous states.

Where to start

If you want the deep cloud feel, start with the Halo collection. If you want a firmer, lower-profile seat, start with the Valen collection. Every sofa and sectional with washable covers is in the washable sofas collection, and our buying guide explains how to measure before you order.
